First 3 V-LVDS solution for flat panel display

Product Features

  • 3.3 V Operation at 250 mW (typ)
  • 28:4 Data channel compression/expansion
  • 227.5 MBps throughput
  • Characterized for operation from 0°C to 70°C

The SN75LVDS81/82 family is the industry's first 3.3 V- transmitter/receiver devices satisfying the emerging LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) data interface standard. These FlatLink™ devices were developed for the transfer of display data and control signals from the video display processor of portable computers to the flat panel display. Addressing market needs of low power, high speed, and reduced noise emissions, they offer small differential voltage swings resulting in narrow, high bandwidth interface with minimal EMI.

These new FlatLink devices can be used to improve the performance of wide parallel single-ended synchronous data connections.

Typical applications:

  • Laptop computers
  • Networking point-to-point switch interconnects

The SN75LVDS81 FlatLink transmitter features four 7-bit parallel-load serial-out shift registers, a 7X clock synthesizer, and five LVDS line drivers. These functions allow up to 28 bits of single-ended LVTTL data to be synchronously transmitted over five balanced-pair conductors for receipt by a compatible receiver, the SN75LVDS82. The 3-V operation offers improved performance over current market 5V-LVDS solutions.

The SN75LVDS81/82 are available in 56-pin TSSOP packaging.
