Evaluation module available for high-speed TLC5540 ADC

Product Features

  • Easy evaluation of TLC5540 (40MSPS) and TLC5510 (20MSPS)
  • High-speed low-noise layout guidelines
  • Flexible support circuits for various evaluation modes
  • Access to all digital control pins
  • Large user prototyping areas
The TLC5540 is a high-speed, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that digitizes wide bandwidth analog signals with 8-bit resolution at a minimum conversion rate of 40MSPS. Applications for the TLC5540 include digital television, CCD interfacing, digital down converters, video conferencing, and digital set-top box. An evaluation module is available to assist system designers in evaluating the performance and features of the TLC5540.

The TLC5540EVM is a complete stand-alone PCB designed to allow quick and accurate evaluation of the TLC5540. On-board circuitry includes the device being tested (TLC5540), wide bandwidth input buffer amplifier, control logic, and latches. A flexible interface is provided with selectable jumper options, convenient connectors, and large analog and digital prototyping areas.

When designing a circuit that includes high-speed digital and precision analog signals such as a high-speed ADC, proper grounding and layout techniques are essential in achieving optimal performance. The TLC5540EVM can be used as an example of appropriate layout schemes and as a performance benchmark when designing your own system.

The EVM comes with complete documentation that includes circuit schematic, PCB layout, user manual, and a detailed data sheet. The same EVM with TLC5510, 8-bit 20MSPS ADC can be purchased for quick evaluation of the TLC5510.
