Starter Kit
The MSP430 Starter Kit (STK) enables designers to easily explore the MSP430 features. Simply connect the Starter Kit board to your PC with the supplied cable, install the Windows-based software, and run the demo program. Due to the extremely low power consumption, no external power supply is needed. The STK can also be used to develop new programs, then test them with the STK Simulation Environment. The programs can also be downloaded into the 512 bytes of on-chip RAM of the MSP430P325IPM OTP version to test at board-level. Additionally, the 16 K on-chip OTP memory can also be programmed with new code.
This MSP430 Starter Kit contains:
- MSP430 STK board with OTP MSP430P325, LCD, PC connector and TSL250 light sensor
- Cable to connect the STK to your PC
- MS-Windows based basic simulation environment and assembler software
- Terminal software to communicate with the on-chip monitor
- Starter Kit / Evaluation Kit Manual
- Metering Application Report
- Architecture Guide and Module Library (Data Book)
- Software User's Guide
- Assembly Language Tools User's Guide
- MSP430 data sheets (MSP430x31x, MSP430x32x)
- Simulation Environment and LCD-Editor Manual
- MSP430 flyer
The MSP430 STK (part no. MSP-STK430A320) is available from TI and authorized distributors. Suggested resale price: US $99.00

Simulation Environment
The Windows-based integrated Simulation Environment contains the software simulator with integrated editor/debugger and allows for a high level of program code development with breakpoints and several run-modes. The source windows allow editing and debugging, while several locations in the memory area such as the system stack can be displayed independently. This simulation package also contains the assembler and linker which can be used from the same workbench. Also, a custom LCD display can be simulated with the included LCD designer.
The Simulation Environment (part no. MSP-SIM430V220) is available from TI and authorized distributors. Suggested resale price: US $199.00

Evaluation Kits
The Evaluation Kits provide everything that is needed for complete development, including a hardware board to connect to your PC and communicate with the MSP430 device via an integrated monitor. The devices are assembled in a UV window package which allows erasing of memory with UV light.
Both kits are available from TI and authorized distributors.
The PMS430x320 Evaluation Kit (part no. MSP-EVK430A320) includes:
- MSP430E325IFZ EPROM version
- MSP-PRG420B Programming Adapter
- MSP-SIM430V200 Simulation Environment
The MSP430x330 Evaluation Kit (part no. MSP-EVK430A330) includes:
- PMS430E337IHFD 32K EPROM version
- MSP-PRG430B Programming Adapter
- MSP-SIM430V210 Simulation Environment (handles new features incl. H/W multiplier, USART or Security fuse)

Programming Adapter
The Programming Adapter is designed to help program MSP430 OTP versions, and comes with the programming software plus documentation, and allows in-circuit programming of the devices. The chip is assembled on the final PCB board and can easily be programmed afterwards by connecting the 8 pins of the programming adapter to the MSP430 JTAG pins; no additional power supply on the board is needed.
