Announcing the TVP4010

3D Graphics Controller

The TVP4010 3D Multimedia Accelerator promises to give designers unequaled graphics performance at an unparalleled price. The device, which utilizes industry-leading PERMEDIA technology, is the first in a line of products that will provide cost-effective, high-performance 3D for mainstream consumer and commercial PC applications. The fully integrated TVP4010 graphics processor redefines industry expectations. For the price of the average 2D processor, it delivers high-performance 3D graphics and fast SVGA, Windows and video acceleration with more than 30 million texture-mapped pixels/sec. 3D performance. And the TVP4010 makes this high performance affordable. The device gives designers the ability to build TI-based graphics boards at price points that are attractive to developers of mainstream computer applications such as:

  • Gaming
  • CAD/CAM
  • 3D Web Browsers/VRML
  • Virtual Reality/Multimedia Authoring
  • Windows Acceleration
  • Video Acceleration

A balance of outstanding performance and affordable price make the TVP4010 the natural choice for next-generation graphics applications.

Features include:

  • Rich texturing performance for fast games and immersive environments
  • High-end polygon performance for fast modeling and productivity tools
  • Extensive 3D functionality that supports leading 3D APIs
  • A wide range of software drivers for acceleration of most applications.

The TVP4010's robust pipeline allows acceleration of both Direct3D and OpenGL APIs. In addition, proprietary libraries are not necessary to develop textured, full-screen 3D game play and animations at more than 30 frames per second. And the device's inexpensive, full-screen, textured interactivity make it ideal for applications like 3D Studio MAX from Kinetix.

TVP4010 features such as hardware texture mapping, perspective correction and bilinear filtering make 3D games look more realistic with smooth animation.

Without perspective correction or bilinear filtering, textures look blocky and game play is sluggish.

*With 3D acceleration users can interact with fully-rendered 3D objects on the fly.

Without 3D acceleration, applications must use wireframe models of 3D objects.
