![]() Providing Video Solutions For PC PlatformsThe TVP5010 NTSC/PAL Decoder and TVP6000 NTSC/PAL Encoder interface the mostly analog world of video electronics to the digital domain of PCs. By combining a premier feature set with standard interfaces, these devices enable a new image quality level for video on a PC platform.
![]() The graphics controller has long been the heart of PC displays. Until recently, however, they could only produce artificially rendered images. New graphics controllers now offer digital video ports, which allow the PC to enter the world of full-motion video. While digital video ports can allow pristine transfer of images, they cannot interface directly to the analog video devices that dominate the world today, such as camcorders, VCRs, and televisions. NTSC/PAL decoders and encoders fulfill this need by converting analog video to digital video and vise versa. Unfortunately, previous NTSC/PAL decoders and encoders typically produced flat, fuzzy, out-of-sync video images that were generally considered inferior to even the cheapest consumer electronics. The TVP5010 and TVP6000 bring high-quality video to the PC by combining advanced analog processing, such as dual comb filters, with the special features required when marrying analog and digital devices, such as a flicker filter and overscan compensation filter. TI will support Windows98 (Memphis) and WindowsNT 5.0 operating systems with WDM drivers for Microsoft's DirectShow. These drivers will enable a wide range of video applications that will be available in the Windows environment. |
