Announcing the TVP5010

VIDEO INPUT USING THE TVP5010

The TI TVP5010 NTSC/PAL Video Decoder converts analog into digital video.

Key features:

  • Comb filtering on both luminance and chrominance channels
  • Composite and S-video inputs
  • Multiple output formats:
    • 8-bit 4:2:2 YCbCr
    • 16-bit 4:2:2 YCbCr
    • 12-bit 4:1:1 YCbCr
  • Square pixel and CCIR (ITU-601) sampling formats
  • Integrated AGC, clamp, and A/D converters
  • Excellent frequency response
  • Genlock support for accurate color on nonstandard video sources, such as a VCR.

The TVP5010 offers the following standard interfaces:

  • ITU-R-656 (Bit-parallel)
  • VMI Video Port
  • VMI Control Port (I2C)

A typical PC application of the TVP5010 is shown below. The device accepts composite or S-video inputs from an analog video source, such as a camcorder or VCR. An optional tuner allows a cable TV (CATV) or broadcast television RF input. The TVP5010 converts the selected analog input signal into the desired digital video format. An I²C interface allows the graphics controller to control the TVP5010 and tuner.
