Optocoupler with feedback

The TIL300 precision linear optocoupler provides designers with a cost-effective alternative to bulky isolation transformers. The device is well-suited for applications such as in telecommunications, industrial process control, medical instrumentation and switch mode power supplies.

Consisting of an LED that illuminates two photodiodes, the TIL300 eliminates the effects of drift and nonlinearity from the LED by monitoring and controlling its light output, then producing a current that is linearly proportional to that output.

The TIL300 is flexible and capable of operating in many different modes, including unipolar/bipolar, AC/DC and inverting/noninverting. The photodiodes can be operated in the photoconductive mode, for highest bandwidth, or the photovoltaic mode, for the greatest linearity or the lowest dark current.

The standard TIL300 features a transfer gain tolerance of +/- 25 percent, and the TIL300A features a transfer gain tolerance of +/- 10 percent.
