A new CD-based "Designer's Guide and Data Book" from
Texas Instruments includes a powerful search engine that will
save designers time when they need to find the appropriate mixed-signal
or analog device. The CD, called InfoNavigator by TI, is available
free of charge and includes almost 15,000 pages of technical documentation
on all of TI's approximately 2,000 mixed-signal and analog semiconductors.
The CD-based Designer's Guide supplements our printed documentation
as well as our World Wide Web site. The search engine is modeled
after the way engineers do research making it very user-friendly.
By choosing the functionality required of the device, the search
engine then generates a list of products fitting this description.
The user can then provide additional search criteria to narrow
the list even further. Next, the user can review a high-level
technical overview on each device before accessing comprehensive
data sheets and application notes.
Alternative search methods include inputting a device's part number
or the part number of a device from another vendor. This latter
method will generate a list of TI products that are functionally
equivalent to the device.
The information contained in the Designer's Guide goes beyond
data sheets and data books. It also includes application reports,
reference designs and macro models, information on the availability
of evaluation modules, seminar and trade show listings, articles
from Showcase, detailed information on various semiconductor packages
and a glossary of pertinent terms.
