Defense - Explosives and
Biological Warfare
One of the greatest
threats to civilians worldwide is that of hidden
explosives. As a result of wars and other armed
conflicts, many millions of unexploded land mines
remain buried in over 60 countries throughout the
world. Land mines claim a victim, usually a
child, every 15 minutes. The discovery and safe
removal of these explosives is a very expensive
process.
TIs SpreetaTM advanced R&D
group is working with DARPA to develop a
portable, robust, dependable, and highly
sensitive sensor system for explosive detection.
To date, a well-trained canine is more accurate
in detecting minute traces of explosives but the
TI Spreeta team is working to close the gap.
Another global threat to national defense is
the potential for production of agents for
biological and chemical warfare. It is a very
real threat to U.S. military forces and could
also be a potential terrorist weapon against
civilian targets. Spreeta could be used to enable
appropriate distributed detection and
identification solutions for these types of
threats.
How can we help you with undetected explosives
or chemical and biological issues? Do you have an
