Food Quality and Safety
The development of rapid screening
techniques to detect pathogenic and chemical
contaminants in food products prior to their
release to market is becoming a priority in the
food industry.
The goal is to prevent
food-related illness rather than test for the
cause following an outbreak. Medical costs and
lost wages due to food-related illness are
estimated to be approximately $22 billion each
year. Government agencies are teaming with major
universities to encourage the development of new
screening techniques.
TIs Spreeta TM technology
represents an innovative solution to the problem
of detecting contaminants in food. The
specificity and sensitivity of our sensor
components coupled with its convenience and
connectivity will change the way food quality and
safety are measured today.
