Help on the "Category" Field

The "Category" field provides two avenues of flexibility for the search:

1. When used with a chosen "MCU Family" and perhaps some "Search Words", the "Category" field narrows the search to precisely all the "hits" entered into this specific category.

2. When used with the "MCU Family" field set to "All MCUs", the "Category" field may be used to give a broader list of FAQ's entered under this category for all devices. Allows easy browsing to gain a wider knowledge of a particular category.

Every entry in the database has been classified to one or more of the following categories:

  • All (default)
  • Analog (A/D, D/A, Vreg)
  • Clocking (OSC, Pll, RC, etc)
  • Controller Area Network (CAN)
  • CPU, Instructions
  • Development Tools (BDM, ONCE, boards, sw, etc)
  • Electrical Specifications
  • EMI, EMC, ESD

Help on the "Search Words" Field

The "Search Words" field provides specificity to the search. The words entered here are logically "anded" together. Do not enter punctuation to the search words, e.g. looking for information on the 68HC705C8A and SCI, enter "68HC705C8A SCI" (without the quotation marks) into the "Search Words" field. If "68HC705C8A,SCI" (without the quotation marks) was entered, the search algorithm would look for the string that contained precisely "68HC705C8A,SCI" (without the quotation marks), so chances are it would return no hits.

Note that the abbreviations used within the FAQ's may not be consistent, so more than one search may help increase the number of hits found. E.g. some entries may contain "4 Mhz" while others contain "4Mhz".
