RF Products for IS-136
North American Time Division Multiple Access (NA-TDMA) or IS-136 is a
TDMA system used primarily in North America. IS-136 employs a pi/4
Differential Quaternary Phase Shift Keying (pi/4-DQPSK) modulation
scheme. The channel spacing is 30 KHz which provides backward
compatibility with the Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS) analog
standard. By combining NA-TDMA with AMPS, nationwide footprints are
achievable. IS-54/136 was the first North American digital cellular
system to provide the user "roaming" flexibility by combining digital
and analog wireless access methods within a single handset.
