When Voysys introduced VoysConnect™ in March 1996, it broke through a barrier in integrating telephone systems for small businesses. Voysys offers a unified business communications system with a fully integrated phone system, voice messaging, auto-attendant, and conferencing capabilities.

To achieve this breakthrough, Voysys abandoned traditional telephone system architecture, eliminating numerous duplicate components and even looking to replace the hard disk for message storage. To do so, Voysys turned to D2 Technologies for state-of-the-art voice compression software, and to TMS320C52 DSPs for the required horsepower. The joint solution brought significant benefits: the ultimate in cost reduction, a quicker time-to-market by not having to staff DSP expertise, and flexibility for easy expansion.

D2 's field-proven EVP (Embedded Voice Processing ™) had the DSP functions Voysys needed, as well as advanced expansion capabilities like caller ID and international-call progress analysis.

VoysConnect was designed, built and debuted at Computer Telephony Expo in less than one year. Its impact led one competitor to claim: "Voysys has changed the definition of voice-processing systems at the low end of the market."

VoysConnect is being introduced into more than 20 different countries in 1997 and is considered the new benchmark for integrated small business phone systems. Barry Obrand, CEO of Voysys, sums up this achievement: "D2 not only helped Voysys turn a great idea into a great product in record time but continues to work with us in introducing new system capabilities via advanced TI-based DSP software."
