Audio Power Program
Audio Power Program, a new, free software tool from Texas Instruments, helps take the guesswork out of audio power design. Operating in Windows 95 and Windows NT, the program realistically simulates audio system operation under a wide variety of conditions, enabling designers to determine power requirements faster and more accurately and helping them design more cost-effective systems.
The Audio Power Program uses dynamic samplings (.WAV files) of music and voice to calculate a variety of power-related characteristics of system operation. Important outputs include clipping, distortion, crest factor, efficiency, and average and peak power consumption output, power dissipation and current. Additional features include thermal analysis and computation modes for both linear and Class-D type amplifiers.
