PCM codec/filter combos

TCM37C14A, TCM37C15AThe latest additions to TI's pulse-code modulated (PCM) codec/filter combo family offer high-performance solutions for next-generation line-card and other voice-band applications. The TCM37C14A and TCM37C15A PCM combos provide a complete high-performance, low-noise solution to interface a full-duplex voice telephone circuit with a time-division-multiplexed (TDM) system.

The new devices add a simple on-chip programmable gain select, which reduces the expense and component count of a fully programmable gain system. The combos can be used in a variety of applications, including central office line cards, line interfaces for digital transmission and T1 switching, PABX and central office telephone systems, subscriber line concentrators, digital encryption systems, digital voice-band data-storage systems, PBX digital feature phones and interfaces for digital signal processing.

Power consumption of the devices, only 80mW in operation, can be reduced to a very low 5mW in power-down mode. The 'C15A offers A-Law companding and the 'C14A includes pin-selectable companding of both u-Law and A-Law. The 'C14A also features a differential output and pin-selectable master clock rate.

'C14A, 'C15A Features

  • Programmable gain select
  • Differential output (C14A)
  • Pin selectable master clock rate (C14A)
  • Power down mode
  • Characterized for operation from -40 C to 85 C
