PMOS low dropout voltage regulator
Closeup of the TPS71025
![]() The device, the latest addition to TI's PMOS LDO family, offers an advantage over similar products. Bipolar regulators use a PNP pass element, the base current of which is directly proportional to the load current through the regulator. The TPS71025 uses a voltage-controlled pass transistor that results in low quiescent currents (typically 292 uA), which remain constant over the regulator's full specified 500mA output load. The PMOS pass transistor also acts as a low-value resistor Ñ less than one ohm -- so the dropout voltage is extremely low when compared to conventional bipolar LDOs.
Suggested resale pricing in U.S. dollars in 1K quantity.
