CCD digital imaging sensor

TI's new progressive scan CCD (charge couple device) digital image sensor provides designers of demanding imaging systems full-speed video (30 frames per second) and high resolution (1K x 1K pixels). The device, designated the TC281, features low-smear imaging qualities because of its high-speed parallel transfer architecture.

The floating-gate technology incorporated in the TC281 gives it a low 10-to-20 electron noise floor at frequencies as high as 40 MHz. The device produces an eight-micron square pixel and its advanced virtual phase technology simplifies system design because fewer clock signals are required to operate the sensor.

Engineering samples of the TC281 are scheduled to be available during the first quarter of next year with production volumes available in the second quarter. For more information about TI's family of image sensor products, visit the web site http://www.ti.com/sc/docs/msp/disp.htm.
