TI licenses Rambus' memory technologyNew sample products from TI implementing Rambus technology will be available next year. Texas Instruments has licensed Rambus Inc.'s high-bandwidth memory-interface technology for digital signal processors (DSPs), communications application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and dynamic random access memories (DRAMs). "TI's broad, strategic commitment will enable communications system makers to now enjoy the same Rambus technology benefits that so far have been concentrated in the graphics and multimedia markets," said Subodh Toprani, vice president of Rambus Inc.'s Logic Products Division. "On the memory side, TI plans to use the Direct Rambus interface in the company's 64-megabit and higher density DRAM devices. The Direct Rambus interface is designed to support the higher bandwidth applications that will be required to keep up with the increased processor and logic performances of the future," said Ramesh Gidwani, TI Memory vice president. Direct Rambus is a trademark of Rambus, Inc.
