Hot plug controller

HPC3130 Diagram

The new HPC3130 PC controller device is designed for systems that require hot swap capability by allowing the insertion or removal of an adapter card in a PCI-based system while the system is still running and without interfering with the other devices on the PCI bus.

The HPC3130 hot plug controller can be used in a variety of system applications, including servers, high-end PC/workstations and network systems. The device is compliant with the PCI Hot Plug Specification 1.0 and can support up to four independently controlled hot plug slots.

The device provides both a serial and 8-bit parallel interface that allows software to communicate with it. It provides two interrupt pins to report hot plug events to the system controller, and it also supports three different modes of connecting and disconnecting PCI adapter cards to or from the bus, including an automatic detection/connection mechanism, by providing the software interface to sequence the power to the slot, clocks and signals to the adapter cards that are being live inserted.

The device supports both 33-MHz and 66-MHz PCI clock frequencies and can be used for both a 32-bit or 64-bit data transfer rates.

HPC3130 features
  • Supports up to four independently controlled hot plug PCI slots

  • Provides an automatic bus connection sequencing feature

  • Provides card protection mechanism for advanced card protection

  • Supports 33-MHz and 66-MHz PCI clock frequency

HPC3130 120-pin QFP $10.02
128-pin TQFP $10.02

Suggested resale pricing in U.S. dollars in 1K quantity.
